This course provides students with astrological tools that can enhance their life by exploring their personal local landscape. While Astro*Carto*Graphy examines the interaction of the natal chart and planetary lines of influence across the globe, local space astrology brings the focus close to home.
Students will learn how to use and combine topographical maps, compass directions, and a local horizon chart in order to develop a living system within their immediate environment.
Students will also learn practical methods of using these local space techniques in their home or work in a manner similar to Feng Shui. Combining local space with the natal chart, transits, progressions, solar returns, and solar arcs can lead to innovative methods of enhancing or balancing one’s own local space to create a balanced and harmonious personal environment.
What is the basis of Local Space Astrology? As you move around your local horizon (with your feet grounded on the earth), different planets and aspects are highlighted. Local space techniques involve viewing and understanding natal directional planetary locations and indications using angularity, shifting aspect patterns in relationship to angles, and planetary altitude. (You will understand this sentence by the end of the course!)

What can we tell from an astrological chart about the soul and potential past lives? It's a really good question, and astrologers have been finding answers since ancient Greece. This course looks at the intersection of ideas about the soul and astrological interpretation from ancient to modern. Each week, students will have a chance to work with a different technique, applying it to their own charts and the charts of others.
This course presents an overview of reincarnation's role in astrological practice and students are strongly encouraged to actively participate in both the live sessions and in online discussion forums. Basic knowledge of astrology is required, for we’ll look at different astrological techniques that have been used to tease out information about the soul's incarnations.
Weekly topics include:
- Planets are divine (or at least they are people)!
The Western tradition: karma and metempsychosis
Meeting the characters
The ascent and descent of the soul
Talking to your planets - Daemons are Forever
Find your soul's guardian spirit - Techniques from our astrological ancestors
How to use the astrological chart to help a planet in need - Karma and astrology from the Indian perspective.

The Moon has preoccupied humans for many thousands of years, likely since we came into being. During this course we will provide an overview of the cosmology of the period and analyse the Moon’s solar phase cycle, planetary nodes, aspects, and the lots, also known as parts, associated with her.
Using ancient primary sources, this course will introduce special considerations that are discussed by these authors and explore topics that were developed in this time period. Students will be equipped with both techniques and a conceptual framework for interpreting the Moon in both natal and electional charts.
This course is aimed at those with foundational astrological knowledge (beginner) and will include enough new information for more experienced students (intermediate) seeking to go deeper into the Hellenistic material.
Weekly Topics:
1. Cosmology
- Mythology of the Moon from Babylon, Egypt, and Greco-Roman periods
- Popular/influential philosophies and ideologies active during the period
2. Hellenistic Phases
- Synodic cycle; Lunar Phases–elevenfold cycle, including eightfold, fourfold, and threefold subcycles–via Valens and Rhetorius
- Ancient calendrics and time keeping
- Introduction to special designations: Sect, Luminary/Benefic/Malefic, Rejoicing (by sect and phase), Bonding, Pre-natal Lunation/Syzygy
3. Aspects and Electional Material
- Applying and Separating aspects from the Moon; Transferring light
- Special electional considerations and techniques related to the Moon via Dorotheus
- Nodes of the Moon; Bendings; Eclipses via Valens and Ptolemy
- Time keeping and cycles via Meton and Geminus
- Void of Course–various definitions, incl. Maternus
- The Lot of Fortune (and Spirit)
- Timing Techniques that utilize Lots with a special focus given to Valens as it relates to Zodiacal Releasing
After completing this course, students will be familiar with the various authors contributing to the body of Hellenistic astrology by reading and commenting on their works. Students will have a basic, broad understanding of cosmological and philosophical topics and themes that inform these authors and their works.
Students will be able to identify and interpret the Moon’s basic condition, phase, aspects, including several special considerations, in their chartwork. Students will be able to calculate and interpret the Lots related to the Moon and apply a symbolic layer of understanding to their chartwork. Students will be prepared to be introduced to timing techniques that involve the Lots.

The natal chart is a snapshot of the planets at the moment of birth. Transits occur when orbiting planets activate the natal chart. The art of prediction includes organizing, prioritizing, and communicating, which transits will result in changes in the inner and outer worlds. In this class, you will learn timing techniques, including annual profections, planetary retrogrades, lunations, and eclipses. Students will receive the tools to create a year forecast.
Weekly Topics:
- Week 1: Transit Fundamentals - Introduction to analyzing and organizing planetary transits. Instruction on prioritizing timing events with annual profections.
- Week 2: Retrograde Cycles - Learn how to use an ephemeris. Understanding the importance of shadows, stations, and planetary retrogrades.
- Week 3: Lunations, Eclipses, and the Lunar Nodes - Harness the predictive power of the solar-lunar relationship.
- Week 4: Cycles of Becoming – Understanding the synodic cycles and important age-related transits.
- Week 5: Mapping the Future - Creating a year-ahead forecast.
