Course description:
Students will learn commonly used Indian astrology techniques and put their knowledge to work by delineating a chart every week. Example charts will emphasize “ordinary” people, the kind of charts people see in the real world. Although some would argue that they are more difficult to interpret than famous charts, this approach will help students to swiftly refine their judgments.
By the end of this course, students should be able to make a meaningful delineation of a natal chart in the Indian style. The goal is to help students think like an Indian astrologer and combine chart elements into a meaningful whole.
Indian Astrology (also called Jyotish or Vedic Astrology) is a uniquely unbroken tradition of astrology, practiced continuously for as long as 2,000 years according to modern scholarship. In Indian, this tradition is viewed as extending back at least 5,000 years. It is referenced in the religious writing of India as far back as the Maha Bharata and the Atharva Veda, two ancient spiritual texts.

Instructor bios:
Gary Gomes began writing about Jyotisha in 1993, and has been published in the ACVA Journal, BAVA Journal, NCGR special editions, Mountain Astrologer, and several Indian magazines, including Express Star Teller and the Astrological eMagazine. He has also served as Editor and Managing Publisher of the Council of Vedic Astrology Journal. He served on the American College of Vedic Astrology Board between 1997 and 2003. He was elected Vice-President of the Council of Vedic Astrology in 2004 and President of CVA in 2007.
Gary is also a Swami of the Kriya Yoga lineage and a Reiki Master. He was recognized for his contributions to Jaimini Astrology by the Bharat Vidya Bhavan in India and has written on Jyotish in publications available from every continent except Antarctica.
Finally, he has been teaching at ACVA from 2004 to the present and has served as the Assistant Dean for Academics for ACVA and was a professor and Vice-President of Kepler College. Gary has been granted many awards for his work in both the US and India.

Instructor Kenneth Miller, BA in Anthropology, Psychology, and Religious Studies from the University of Colorado: Boulder; MA in Eastern and Western Traditions: The History, Philosophy, and Transmission of Astrology from Kepler College; Kenneth D. Miller has an MA in Eastern and Western Traditions: History and Transmission of Astrology from Kepler College. He is currently serving as President of Kepler College and is on the board of ISAR. Awarded Jyotish Medha Shree from ICAS, Jyotish Kovid from CVA, and Levels I & II Certification from ACVA. Based in San Diego, he maintains a practice as a consulting astrologer. He is the author of Mars: Passion or Strife-The Confounding Influence of Culture on Astrology, and the forthcoming new translation/commentary of On the Bright Fixed Stars by Anon of 379 (with Andrea Gehrz).
After years of having his newspaper horoscope read to him by his mom, Kenneth D. Miller made the shocking discovery that all the planets were involved in astrological judgments. At age 13 he taught himself how to cast a chart by hand. This began a lifelong interest in astrology and astrological traditions. He remained an amateur western astrologer studying with various teachers until the mid-1990s when he was exposed to Indian (Vedic) astrology, and after a few years decided to make a mid-life career switch to become a professional astrologer.
In addition to Indian astrology, Kenneth has studied Modern western astrology with Helena Elizabeth Ruhnau, Hellenistic astrology with Demetra George and Robert Schmidt, Medieval astrology with Robert Zoller, and Renaissance astrology with Lee Lehman.
