Course description:  This course provides extensive practice in chart interpretation. By the end, students will increase confidence in their interpretation skills, be better able to identify major life issues and be able to focus on answering specific questions raised by clients.

Students will:

  • Explore various ways to enter and explore natal charts depending on the questions that clients present.
  • Have the opportunity to use and improve their critical thinking skills.
  • Use who, what, where, when, and how questions to identify key issues in the chart.
  • Examine and refine different ways to integrate the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant factors in the chart.
  • Locate major themes in the individual's life.
  • Use methods to explore and identify issues in relationships, employment, health, etc. via the natal chart.
  • Understand the principal ethical issues connected with astrological sessions.

Students in this highly interactive 10-week course will meet online weekly to work on delineation. They will also have a course website for further materials and discussion.

Anyone is welcome to take this course. Students wanting to take the course for credit will need to complete weekly discussion forums and assignments.

W104 is optional for the Fundamentals certificate but required for the diploma. Students who have completed this course will receive an extended Fundamentals Certificate.

Instructor bios:

Karen McCauley

Karen McCauley has an M.A. in Educational Psychology from UCLA and spent four years studying clinical psychology at California Graduate Institute. She was the Editor of ASPECTS Magazine, an astrology journal, from 1987-94. A long-time associate and friend of Joan McEvers and Marion March, she taught for Aquarius Workshops from 1976-1999 and has lectured for AW, OAA, NCGR, and UAC. She has served on the AW Board, the AFAN Steering Committee, and as Oregon Astrological Association Treasurer and President. Karen currently serves as Kepler’s Director of Student Services and the Director of the Certificate Program.

 In addition to her expertise in psychological astrology, Karen McCauley has been active in astro*carto*graphy for many years. Since 1993, she has been the administrator for Continuum (dedicated to educating others about astro*carto*graphy and certifying practitioners), where she designs and administers the international Astro*Carto*Graphy certification exam. She also maintains the certification test.
