This course is a hybrid technical astrology/creative writing workshop that uses the principles of ancient aspect theory to construct compelling narratives.
Hellenistic astrology has a rich vocabulary to define and describe aspect relationships that can help us move from a static image of the natal chart to one that is animated, dynamic, and alive. In class we’ll learn concepts like witnessing and testimony; overcoming, domination, and hurling rays; assembly, adherence, connection, and separation; and enclosure and intervention.
Then we’ll turn to creative writing to draw out the rich narrative potential of each of these concepts, developing a deeper understanding of the unique role they play in natal chart interpretation. Far from a study of abstract geometric shapes, ancient aspect theory is about understanding the ever-changing relationships between planetary gods and how they are reflected in our own lives.
